SLJ, Mighty Mangroves- Week 2, Day 2, Activity 2

The person I have chosen for this activity is Auggie Pullman from the book Wonder. I think he is mentally strong rather than strong with muscles. I picked him as he was born with a condition called Treacher Collins. Treacher collins is a condition in which some bones and tissues in the face are not developed. I think that August is really brave as he has had to block out the bullies his whole life.

  1. Hi Caitlyn

I would have to say that this is a fantastic choice. I really liked this book and the movie as well.
Augie is a really strong little boy. It took great strength for him to go to school and try to be normal like everyone else when clearly he wasn't. I also really admire him. Everyone that I know that has read this story feels the same empathy with him.
I know that this is not a true story by the author has based it on real life events of real people.

    Great work Caitlyn

    Until next time

    Allie :)

    1. Hello Allie,

Yes, I think it is a great book and I have also seen the movie as well. I think it is great that they turned the book into a movie.

  2. Hi Caitlyn, yes I think that August is brave. My teacher read the book to my class and then we went and watched the movie it was cool but I preferred the book. I like this task because the photo dragged me into it because I recognised it. keep up the great work

    1. Hello Jess,

I also agree with you, I do prefer the book as well, although the movie was great, I still liked the book better.
