SLJ, The WFF- Day 3, activity 3

  1. The WFF is trying to save the Saimaa Seal
  2. They are building snow banks for the seals. Snow banks are what the seals give birth on. If there ain't any snow banks, the pups are born out in the open ice & also half of the pups could die.
  3. I think they have a chance of saving the seals if they keep doing what they are doing, but I think they need a long term plan

I agree with you. It's a good plan but I think they need a long term plan.

    Blog ya later:)

    1. Hi Jess,

It is sad how there are not many left in the world, but hopefully with the help of WWF, they can bring the numbers back up again.

  2. Hi Caitlyn

It is really amazing that they are having to build mounds of snow for these seals to have their pups in. I would have thought that they would have built these by themselves, or adapted things so they could have somewhere to safely have their young.
It is great that people are going to that extent to help save the species from extinction. Incredible to think that there are so few left in the wild. I really do hope they can save them.
When you see how many seals that are on the coasts of New Zealand. I was in Kaikoura about a month ago and the amount of seal there is incredible. So many babies and huge big seals.
I like that Jess has suggested that they need to think long term. Its good that the both of you are thinking along those lines.

    Great work again Caitlyn.

    Until next time

    Allie :)

    1. Hello Allie,

Yes, it is so good that people are helping endangered animals like this seal. It is also great that the are building banks for the seals to have their pups on.

      From Caitlyn :)

Thanks for your positive, thought and helpful comment on my work.
