SLJ, Off the menu- Day 5, Activity 1

I think the rule about overfishing should stay as it is because if you are caught overfishing you are breaking a rule that has been put in place to protect someone or something in this case it is the fish. I think it is a good rule and it should stay.

  1. Hi Caitlyn!

Thank you for sharing your opinion on overfishing - you have given a great reason as to why the fines should stay.
I agree with you, I think when the fines are this huge you would have to be pretty silly to be fishing where you are not supposed to or overfishing when you shouldn't be... You must have a lot of money you don't mind loosing! I could not imagine spending that amount of money on a fine - I would be so sad!!

I also think that it is really important we are looking after our fresh water and marine life! I don't we are doing too well at this at the moment... Have you talked much about that in school at all? Maybe water pollution or animal welfare?
I would be interested to hear what you have learnt!

Great job on this activity Caitlyn - I enjoyed reading your thoughts on this topic!

    Nga mihi,
    Ellee :)

    1. Hello Ellee,

We haven't really talked about it in my class, but I do know a bit about it. I know that around 6350293180 KG of plastic is dumped into the ocean every year!

    2. Hi Caitlyn!

That is just crazy - It makes me rally sad that we aren't looking after our waters.
That's really awesome that you have looked into it even though you haven't discussed it in class.
Hopefully step by step we will be able to lower that number!

      Ellee :)

    3. Hello Ellee,

I really hope so to, as it makes me really sad as well that people don't care about our oceans and waterways.

      Caitlyn, :)

Thanks for your positive, thought and helpful comment on my work.
