Week 3 Chapter Chat

Google Draw

This is my advanced google draw. I chose to do a Barn Owl. We had to copy the picture that we chose by using the google draw tools. It is quite hard but it is still fun. Mine is not done yet by the way.

Descriptive writing

My advanced google draw

Have you ever heard of an Advanced Google Draw? Well I’m going to describe mine to you.

I chose to do a Barn Owl. I chose this bird because it looked like it would be quite challenging to draw by using the google draw tools. Doing all of the little parts where there are different colors is quite hard, but it is still really fun.

My barn owl has a thumb like body and a heart shaped face. It has two black beady eyes and a hooked beak. My Barn Owl has powerful feathered wings. The Owl has black specks all over its body.

This is my descriptive writing I wrote for my advanced google draw.

The year 6,7 and 8s are doing teh 'Meme' challenge. For the next three weeks we will be working on a Meme challenge with Karoro school. Here are some of mine

Refugee Poem

Running for your life
Exploding bombs

This is my poem I made for one of the activity for chapter chat.

I painted a face
that was surprised
I painted the eyes
round as dinner plates.

I painted a face
that was tired
I painted the mouth
open wide

I painted a face
That was jealous
I painted the eyes
Icy cold

I painted a face
That was angry
I painted the eyes
Fiery with anger

This is what we did for writing with Mrs Bell. We had a poem that we used to get ideas from, then we had to make our own. This is mine.

Week 2 Chapter Chat

Yellow Arm Band

This is my Yellow Arm band that I made for week 1s chapter chat activities. I had to Make the bright yellow Star of David armbands that the Landaus family wore on the train.

Week 1 Chapter Chat

The year 7 & 8s are reading the book Refugee for chapter chat. This is week 1s questions and activities.

Things we can do to protect the planet

  1. Bike more, drive less
  2. Plant some trees- Trees supply oxygen and food. They help save energy and clean the air
  3. Shop carefully- When you go shopping, bring eco friendly bags with you
  4. Chose non-toxic chemicals at your house
  5. Use long-lasting light bulbs- remember to flip the light switch off when you leave the house
  6. Use less water- The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater that will eventually end up in the ocean

These are some ways you can help protect the planet

In room 8, the year 7 & 8s have penpals. With our penpals we discuss a topic that we got to choose. I chose protecting the planet. I haven't got my penpal yet, so I am excited to see who I get matched with.
