Summer learning Journey.{Week 1} [ Activity 1]

For the first week it was about " In the beginning". I choose activity 1, which I had to, read the story about Maui and the giant fish then list 3 facts about it. Here are my facts.

  1. Maui had 3 older brothers.
  2. Since his brothers would not give any bait to him, Maui punched himself in the nose and then used the blood from his nose as bait.
  3. Maui was the one who caught the giant fish.
I have also heard about the story of Maui and the sun.

Bonus Activity

For this activity I had to watch a short video of a Waka Ama race. Then write about if I would like to be in Waka Ama race or not.

I wouldn't do the race because my arms would get tired and sore from paddling also I would get wet and then the wind would make me get cold.

  1. Hi Caitlyn,

You have found some good information about the story, well done. It might be a good idea to tell us what kind of fish he caught, was it a real fish?
I think it is very interesting what you found out about Maui's bait. I don't think I could do that to myself, it would hurt too much!
It's good that you've heard of Maui and the Sun as well, they are both good stories. Which one is your favourite? My favourite is Maui and the Giant Fish because it talks about the North Island which is where I am from.

I look forward to reading more of your blog.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  2. Hey Ruby

I am not quite sure what kind of fish he caught. I probably wouldn't be able to punch myself in the nose either. My favourite one is probably Maui and the giant fish as well.
I can't wait to read some of your posts!

    Blog ya later!

  3. Hi Caitlyn,

If you look at the story again, you might be able to see that he didn't catch a fish ... he caught the North Island! I think that's pretty impressive!!

    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  4. Hi Caitlyn,

You have some good reasons why you wouldn't want to be in a Waka Ama race. Perhaps there is another sport that you enjoy?

I wouldn't want to be in a Waka Ama race either. I'm not very good at swimming and would be afraid that I would fall in the ocean! I also don't think I would have the time to practice. I wonder what you would have to do to prepare for the race. Do you have any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  5. Hi Ruby
I think you would have to put in a lot of time and effort to practice. You might have to be strong as well.
